Prechen portable monitor reports: former Epic product director reveals night in the fortress is almost stillborn!
Epic “fortress night” since launch, obtained tremendous success, its popularity level is unprecedented. It not only has a huge number of players, but also has the cultural influence of a far larger part of the game. But it was revealed at E3 2019 that the free online game will barely survive until its release date!
Rod Fergusson, former product director at Epic Games, recently revealed that while he was at the company, he had been thinking about scrapping the fortress nights project. At the time, the project didn’t have a great escape mode (which is what led to the success of the game), and there were still some difficulties that hindered the development team.
“If I stay on Epic, I will definitely cancel fortress night.” Fergusson said. “Before I left, I tried to cancel fortress night. It was all about saving the world and facing a series of difficulties. As product director at the time, I would have stopped making the game.”
Fergusson did not reveal the difficulties the game faces. He left Epic in 2012 and joined Irrational Games in helping with resident evil: infinity. He joined Microsoft when the company bought the rights to gears of war from Epic. Now he’s heading to The Coalition studio to help with gears of war 5.
